- Hi there!
- Bertrand speaking.
-
- Seems like the project has really become something SERIOUS now. I wish I
- could spend more time on it, cause you know, after all, I launched it. But
- I'm sooo busy and sooooooo incompetent in comparison with our new friends!
- Anyway, I'm working on a texture mapping routine. It seems like Doug has a
- lot of experience in this. He'll probably think my routine sucks. But I'll
- finish it anyway, and I hope there are some ideas he can use. I've done it
- in the spirit of an integration in the game that is with a clipping table by
- column. I use doom like coordinates, too. The texture I use is a 128*128
- near true color patch.
- It should be ready by monday. I hope.
-
- But I wasn't writing about this. Now that we are quite a few to work, it's
- probably the right time to set up a ftp server where any one of us can
- up/download new versions and routines. A WWW page would be a good idea, too,
- to advertise the project and keep track of its advancement. Could Johann set
- up a ftp and WWW server? I could write and manage the WWW page if you want
- me to.
-
- It's probably time to set up a few rules as this is a common project. I
- mean, any new version of bad mood should have a version number. For example,
- we could decide that the current version is 0.1. If I add something to this
- version, I will call it 0.1.BLR1, meaning that it's based on the "official"
- version 0.1 and that it's the first improvement I, Bertrand Le Roy (BLR),
- have brought to it. The source should contain in preamble the date and
- precise description of the improvement and of its location if possible. For
- scattered improvements, a comment should be put before any modified part of
- the source. Perhaps the typesetting should be different. If it's a new
- routine, the source of the routine, isolated from the rest, should be
- included as an independant file to make its inclusion in another version or
- the putting together of all improvements of a given official version easier.
- When this putting together of all improvements has been done, we could
- release the next official version. The question is who is going to do the
- official putting together?
- Perhaps we should also set up some style rules (how to name variables,
- routines, etc.) but I leave this to the "Doug team".
- What do you think?
-
- Regards, Bertrand.
